WORLD CHEESE AWARDS SUCCESS FOR DART MOUNTAIN
Heartiest congratulations to Dart Mountain Cheese, from Claudy, Derry-Londonderry
who have taken home TWO World Cheese Awards.
They were awarded Gold for Meeny Hill Goat’s Cheese. It is a firm goats’ cheese
which is aged for at least 4 months. It is Northern Ireland’s first and only blue goats’
cheese. They also got a Silver award for Kilcreen, which is an Alpine-style cows’ milk
cheese.
The cheeses are handmade by Kevin and Julie Hickey in the Sperrins.
The World Cheese Awards 2024 took place at Pavilhão Multiusos de Viseu in
Portugal on Friday 15 November 2024, where 4,786 cheeses from around the world
were assessed.
Queijo de Ovelha Amanteigado made by Quinta do Pomar was crowned World
Champion Cheese 2024.
