Lisburn folk will know The Daily Apron as the go-to artisan baker in Lisburn.

Katrina Collins and Cathy Stevenson decided to centre their attention on their bakery and stepped back from their café at Smyth Patterson Department Store in Lisburn, which they ran for 12 years.

Established in 2021 and spurred on by Cathy being named as World Bread Awards Bread Hero in 2020, The Daily Apron have gathered a number of awards in their short journey as Lisburn’s first and only artisan bakery. They won Bakery of the Year at the 2022 Neighbourhood Retailer Awards, while their plain sourdough bread has gained recognition with multiple national awards including a Gold award at the UK World Bread Awards in 2022 and Gold (first position) at Blas na hEireann awards in 2023. Their hand crafted Everything Bagel also won Gold in the continental bread category at the same competition.

The Daily Apron team is proudly an all female bread baking team who have branched out into the wholesale market, supplying breads and French pastries to other cafes, restaurants, bakeries and farm shops in Lisburn, Hillsborough, Carryduff, Belfast, Tandragee, Bellaghy and Cookstown. Their breads and pastries can also be purchased at farmers markets across the region including a regular monthly slot at Tyrone Farmer’s Market.

Their motto speaks for itself ‘Baking is our superpower and aprons are our capes’. Apt indeed!
