Taste Ards and North Down
Ards and North Down Council places food and drink as one three core areas of
economic development. In 2019 they established their food and drink network to
help drive their food and drink sector forward .
In late 2020 the food and drink network adopted the name ‘Taste Ards and North
Down’ which is now both the trading and functional name of the network. They
currently have 76 members who comprise producers, independent retailers,
restaurants, and a range of other key players in their local food and drink scene.
They have an annual budget that takes them to food and drink trade events, focuses
their activity around two seasonal food festivals, supports collective buying for
training and joint promotional activities, and develops collaborative experiences and
product development. They now also run a skills and careers development fortnight
for food and drink and run speciality food events and fam trips to improve knowledge
about their offering.
They are currently in the second year of their second food and drink development
