Take a trip back in time at The Cuan Guesthouse to experience the special Christmas dishes of the Georgian period as celebrated by Jane Austen, author of Pride and Prejudice, and her family.
You will be welcomed with a traditional glass of Sloe Gin as you peruse this very alternative menu.
The meats of the time were turkey, goose or mutton with venison holding pride of place.
The method of sousing meats and fish was very popular with Pork Belly Souse most favored at the time. Sauces included Sorrel Sauce and Black Butter Sauce and jellies and puddings were there in abundance.
Finish your evening with one of our Georgian ‘Minc’d Pyes’ created from a recipe that dates back to 1762.
