2016 will see the biggest ever NI Food Pavilion at Balmoral Show, a fitting celebration in the NI Year of Food and Drink!

It’s an exciting time for Northern Ireland. After years of preparation, 2016 has been designated the Year of Food and Drink. It’s a jam-packed year, and we are delighted to showcase and celebrate the wide variety of quality local food and drink at Balmoral Show! There are so many companies exhibiting this year for the first time including Blackthorn Foods, Passion Preserved and Café Livanto. We are also excited about a large seafood presence which highlights the excellent work done by our fishermen.

This year will see a Cheese Sampling Area where local artisan companies can talk about, sample and sell their fantastic cheese. We’ve also worked on a Street Food Area, just outside the Food Pavilion where you can sit and enjoy quality local food to go from Linen Hill Street Food, Foodie Folk, Jolly Pies, Wolf and Devour.

Each month in the Year of Food and Drink has a dedicated theme, and May is all about Landscape and Places. Almost 40 local award winning chefs will create dishes celebrating the food from their region, including Noel McMeel from Lough Erne Resort Co. Fermanagh, Niall McKenna from James Street South Belfast, Dean Coppard from Uluru Co. Armagh to name just a few! We are also pleased to host the Tesco Cookery Theatre again too, where chefs will demonstrate various skills using local produce. The Chef Timetables will be available on www.nigoodfood.com in the lead up to The Show.
