Young Buck is one of most highly-rated raw milk cheeses on this island and beyond.
It is made by Michael Thompson, who is so fanatical about cheese, he opened a
shop in Belfast City Centre where he stocks great cheeses and northern Irish
charcuterie.
The “buck” is made in Newtownards. He gets his raw milk from a local farmer and
uses the expertise he gained at the School of Artisan Food in Nottingham to make it.
In the shop, you can also buy other great cheeses from Northern Ireland including
Ballylisk and the Dart Mountain range as well as Abernethy butter and charcuterie
from Ispini, Corndale and Broughgammon Farm. It is open Monday to Saturday
10am-5pm. Keep an eye on socials for new premises.
