The Shore Food Tour
The Shore Food Tour is all about the local traditions of Lough Neagh. This tour gives you an insight into how important the Lough was as a food source from the first arrival of man to Ireland. You will begin the day with a tour of the Lough Neagh Fisheries Visitor centre, you’ll learn fascinating facts about the industry and get the opportunity to hold a live eel (if you dare) and get a glimpse into the fishing traditions that have been the life blood of this area for generations.
On the tour, you will meet a local fisherman, and enjoy a three course lunch with some traditionally cooked Lough Neagh Eels & Pollan, with breads freshly baked by the fisherman’s wife and served in the idyllic surroundings of the Lock Keepers Cottage. A local fisherman will take you on a short boat trip, he’ll tell tales of the life of a fisherman and you might even be lucky enough to see a real fishing boat in operation. You’ll visit Ireland’s oldest thatched pub, where you’ll enjoy Whiskey & chocolate tasting along with a toe- tapping trad music session.
Tickets are priced at £65pp to include return transport, tour of the fisheries visitor centre with samples, lunch, a boat trip, Whiskey and chocolate tasting and trad music.
